Get Involved

The Florida Coastal Everglades LTER program embraces collaboration. If you are interested in collaborating, please read about member responsibilities and find pathways to becoming a member below. Let us know if you need a letter of support for a related research proposal. Our opportunities page contains postings of jobs, workshops, and symposia that may be of interest.

Become a Member

Scientists with a Ph.D. (including postdoctoral research associates) are eligible to serve as Collaborators. If you are interested in becoming a Florida Coastal Everglades LTER collaborator, please do the following: 

  1. Review the  member responsibilities and expectations of FCE LTER personnel and field access for FCE LTER personnel.
  2. Submit your CV and a letter to John Kominoski, the program's lead Principal Investigator, in which you request membership to the Florida Coastal Everglades LTER Program and show how your involvement in the program will enhance LTER research efforts. 

Collaborator request letters should include:

  1. A description of planned or ongoing activities and a clear justification of their relation to the ongoing FCE program.
  2. How this research will benefit the FCE LTER program and how data will be made available to FCE scientists (see Data Policy).
  3. A description of required logistical support (if any) from the FCE and means of compensating for that support (if necessary).
  4. This statement: “I have read and will abide by the FCE Code of Conduct.

Your letter and CV will be forwarded to the FCE Internal Executive Committee (IEC) for review and consideration as the IEC is responsible for recommending to John Kominoski, the program's Lead Principal Investigator, the addition of any scientist to be a FCE LTER Collaborator. You will be notified by John Kominoski as to whether your request for membership has been approved or rejected by the IEC. 

After you have been approved as a FCE LTER Collaborator:

After IEC approval, you will receive a formal letter of welcome from John Kominoski, the program's Lead Principal Investigator. This letter contains the specific requirements, limitations and rights of newly added FCE LTER Collaborators and affiliated Graduate Students. A copy of the FCE LTER Project Administration & Management Guidelines and the FCE LTER Data Management Policies will be included with your welcome letter.
