Description:
Valve is elliptical in shape with broadly rounded apices; axial area is small and parallel, with rounded central area; canal around raphe is lanceolate, with continuous line of prominent punctae from one valve end to the other (middle are has slightly larger punctae than on ends); striae have two rows of punctae (cf. Diploneis ovalis); striae in middle of the valve more or less parallel, more radiate at apices; length is 13-25µm, 8-14µm; striae count is 13-18 in 10µm (16-20 punctae in 10µm)
