Description:
Cells form band-like colonies; valve is linear to linear-elliptic, with rounded apices; raphe valve has a fine raphe, parallel-sided sternum with a slightly expanded centre, raphe with simple central endings that turn slightly to one side; rapheless valve has a very broad sternum and marginal single (double) rows of irregular areolae (~30 in 10µm) separated from single (double) rows of mantle areolae; striae are uniseriate, difficult to observe under the light microscope, and consist of rounded areolae; length is 10-44µm, breadth is 4-8µm; striae count is 35 in 10µm (approx. 38 areolae in 10µm)
