Description:
Valves semi-elliptic with protracted sub-capitate to capitate ends. Dorsal margin convex, ventral margin straight. Raphe filiform, raphe branches straight; proximal and distal ends deflected dorsally. Axial area narrow, central area not expressed. Dorsal striae composed of rectangular puncta; slightly radiate at the center becoming more radiate towards the ends. Ventral striae very dense, dash-like, hardly resolvable under LM.
Notes:
Common in surface sediments and sediment cores collected near Bob Allen Key and Russell Bank, Florida Bay with water depth < 2m and salinity ranging between 30 – 35ppt and in Biscayne Bay at sites with similar environmental conditions.
