John Kominoski As a graduate fellow for the Urban Resilience to Extremes Sustainability Research Network (UREx SRN), I focus my research on urban impacts to above and below-ground nutrient cycling in Miami Beach, FL. In particular, I am interested in observing how infrastructure design alters hydrologic connectivity and associated vulnerability to flooding, raising concern for ecosystem and human health hazards. Using an interdisciplinary approach, I work closely with city practitioners and engineers to facilitate a comprehensive analysis of the impacts of urbanization on the urban hydrologic cycle and water quality.

Michael Ross My research interests include marsh and adjacent tree island dynamics within the ?white zone? area, including sites previously and currently sampled by (Ross et al., 2000) specifically focusing on spatial heterogeneity of the marsh sites and adjacent tree islands in conjunction to the differences in soil nutrient availability with vegetation density, composition, and possibly functional traits.

Leo Sternberg I am interested in using GIS/RS and statistical technology to detect tempo-spatial patterns in ecosystem, e.g., vegetation dynamics, change of plant physiology, and then use situ measurements and mathematical modelling to explain the patterns. I am currently working on sea level rise effects on coastal areas, e.g., mangrove migration.
