Site Role: RESSt Intern (2005-present)
Mentor scientist:
Dr. Colin Saunders
Projects:
Nia began working with Dr. Saunders during the fall of 2005. Once Sebastian collects and counts the sawgrass seeds, Nia catalogs several measurements for each and will be used by Dr. Saunders to build a model. It is well known that sawgrass plants produce different sized seeds depending on the nutrient levels of the water. Using this idea Nia and Dr. Saunders will use this information to infer nutrient concentrations in the Everglades, throughout history.
