Trees
There are several types of tree that may be found in the tree island
such as this Gumbo Limbo. Other common trees that are hardwoods on
tree islands include Live Oak, and Mahogany. These trees provide a
thick leaf litter layer on soil surface which develops into rich soils.
These rich soils provide a source of organic nutrients to the downstream
marsh.
