Tree Islands in the Everglades Landscape

Tree islands are a very visible part of the marsh in the Florida Coastal
Everglades landscape. They have higher biomass, (living material)
than the surrounding marsh, and higher diversity (more species). The
elevation of tree islands is higher than the marsh that surrounds
them and provide dry habitat for mammals.
