Animals

Sawgrass fuels the food chain in the freshwater marsh and is home
to a number of interesting animals and wildlife.
Florida Coastal Everglades researchers and Everglades National Park
visitors often encounter the American alligator, Mosquito fish, Florida
banded water snake, deer, otters, raccoons, and numerous marsh birds.
Alligators call to each other from each of the sawgrass islands and
their trails are clearly visible in the flooded marsh.
