Seagrass beds

Bottlenose dolphin swmming above a seagrass bed

The bottom of Florida Bay is carpeted with several types of sea grass including Manatee grass and Turtle grass. These grasses are named after the creatures that graze upon them- you guessed it, the manatee and sea turtle!

This Bottlenose dolphin is another visitor and resident to Florida Bay for tasty scallops, fish, lobsters, and crabs that live in and find food in the seagrass beds.
