Description:
Valve is linear to linear-lanceolate, the smallest specimens becoming elliptical-lanceolate, with rounded ends (more or less capitate in larger specimens); striae are less conspicuously radial on the raphe valve compared to other varieties, parallel on the pseudoraphe valve; length is 8-44µm, breadth is 3.4-4.5µm; striae count is 22-25 in 10µm
